The Afghan government is moving towards the electronic identity card (eID)

001 - Afgha The Afghan government has approved a law that recommends the issuance of biometric identity cards in this country of Central Asia.

The draft amendment to the Census Act was approved by a legislative decree issued at a cabinet meeting. The amendment paves the way for the inclusion of the word “Afghan” as nationality in electronic charts as well as to include other specificities of individuals such as the ethnic details of cardholders.

The government’s initiative is seen as a major element in resolving the controversial issue of the distribution of electronic identity cards. The Afghan government has stepped up its efforts to organize parliamentary elections and introduce reforms in electoral bodies. See more on:
