A Mobile NFC electronic wallet for Apple?

Gradually, as we approach from the commercial launch of iPhone6 (announced on September 9 in the United States), it seems that Apple is decided to attract new customers by software and services, rather to a new hardware. A rumor said that Apple is indeed preparing to launch a mobile e-wallet NFC soon.

According to sources, Apple has partnered with credit card companies such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express for mobile payment services in the near field (NFC) using NXP semiconductors. It would also be possible to identify the owner of the mobile terminal with the help of a biometric scanner associated with the iPhone.

Apple’s entry into the mobile payments market after two years of speculation could provide a welcome boost to the sector in developed countries. In emerging markets, mobile financial services are largely based on SMS (example of M-Pesa from Vodafone).

In the field of mobile accessories, Apple also prepare a smart watch to be associated iPhone smartphone. This watch could be equipped with an NFC chip to enable contactless payments without the need of a smartphone.

According to Gartner, NFC technology is currently in the launching phase, and should go into production within two years. See also  http://www.totaltele.com/
